BMFA website: Female figurine Egyptian, Middle Kingdom, late Dynasty 11 - Dynasty 12 Findspot: Deir el-Bersha, Egypt Width x height x depth: 5.7 x 18.6 x 3.2 cm (2 1/4 x 7 5/16 x 1 1/4 in.) Wood, stone [inlaid eyes] Female figure with legs that end at the knees. The arms were carved separately; the left arm is missing. The face, with inlaid stone eyes, was also carved from a separate piece of wood. The head is covered with small round holes containing black wooden pegs, which represent short, curly hair. | |
