Breasted: 3. Chicago, Oriental Institute, 11496 (Pl. 52b). Two women, somewhat unusual in wearing long actual linen garments. From Sedment, tomb 2105. Ninth dynasty. Height: 23.8 cm. Petrie-Brunton, Sedment, I, Pl. XXVI, 11 (No. 2115) [sic], text, p. 10. Tooley-1989 (p. 219): Tomb 2105. Chicago 11496. H.23.6 cms. A pair of female figures in single file, with feet together, naked except for strips of linen and short full bottomed hair. On the heads are trapezoid baskets supported by the straight left arms. The right hands held slightly in front of the bodies hold birds. The facial features are crudely painted and incised (1924a, 10, XXVI:11; Breasted 1948, 62, pl. 52b). Dated 11 dyn. to Senwosret I (see comments p. 51). | |
