Turin Mus. online cat: Object: statue / duck Dimension: Height 4.8 cm., Width 3.5 cm., Length 11 cm. Material: wood / plaster / paint Provenance: Assiut Category: Statuary Location: Storage Description: Statuette of a duck stuccoed and painted, with a peg on the back for interlocking with the partially preserved hand of a bearer(?). The anatomical details are rendered graphically by means of painted stucco with black (feathers of the back, head and eye detail) and white (breast feathers), now only traces. -------------------------- This is one example of several similar fragments in Turin Schiaparelli excavated Asyut for the Turin Museum in the early 20th century, but he did not publish his excavations. | |
