Description | |
MFA website: This wooden model figure depicts a female offering bearer standing with legs together, feet slightly apart, with a basket on her head. The arms are carved as separate components and are still articulated with the body. The left arm is raised to balance the basket. A rectangular wooden base has been provided, and the figure's feet have been carved as pegs for attachment to this base. They are now separated. The woman is painted white, which may be faded from a slightly darker yellow color. Her wig is black, and facial details are accented in black as well. A black line on the basket suggests that it was decorated with at least a simple pattern. | |
