Description
Servant Named Ishet Crushing Grain
The statue depicts a female servant named Ishet who is crushing grain with a millstone. She kneels, leaning forward and resting on her outstretched arms in a position that helps her do a better job. Like many other servants, she has a nude torso, as garments would obstruct the work she is engaged in. Her hair is held in place with a ribbon beautifully tied behind her head. On the left side of the base of the statue, her name is visible along with the title of her master who was the Overseer of the White House that belongs to Upper Egypt.
