Description | |
MFA website: This wooden tomb model depicts female offering bearers provided with a roughly rectangular wooden base. The figures' skin is painted yellow. They wear white dresses and black wigs. The dresses have a strap over the left shoulder. Eyes are detailed in black and white. Arms were fashioned separately from the body and are attached with small pegs at the shoulders. Legs are carved with peg 'feet' for attachment to holes in the base. One figure is still attached and is shown with bent left arm carrying a reddish-brown box. The figure that has been detached from the base has arms down at her sides. Signs of additional holes in the base board suggest additional offering bearers may have been part of this model scene. | |
