Breasted: 6. Cairo Museum. Linen cloth around waist and hips; holds two birds in right hand. From Beni Hasan, tomb of Thaui (No. 186). Height: 48 cm. Found on eastern side of coffin in narrow space against wall. Garstang, op. cit., fig. 77, left, p. 87. Garstang Inventory: x. Model of girl (basket on bead and two birds in hand). Tooley-1989 p. 213: Tomb BH186 of T3wy. JE 43295. H.47.9 cms (plate 52 left). Female figure with feet together, entirely naked but covered by a strip of linen. The long hair is modelled and parted in the centre. On the head is a tall trapezoid basket supported by the left arm bent at the elbow, the hand closing over the top of it. In the pendant right hand a pair of birds are held by the wings. The round face has a wedge nose, wide slit mouth and crude painted eyes (Garstang 1904b, 221; 1907a, 87-8, fig. 77 left; Breasted 1948, 65. SAOS neg. B423) | |
