Description | |
Breasted III-2-1: 1. Cairo Museum. In this pottery-making scene, one man seated beside a circular. kiln prepares clay for the potter. The second man turns a wheel with his left hand and forms a vessel with his right. Quibell, Excavations at Saqqara (1906-1907), p. 76 and Pl. XIX, 4 Quibell-1908Quibell does not mention XIX: 4 in the text, and in the description of plates just says "Another potter". However on p. 10 he says "To the right, (north ) of this [the model of Karenen being entertained by musicians], was a potter's workshop and to the right of it again the most complete of the carpenter's shops (pi. XVIl, 4)." This seems the most likely candidate for XIX:4. | |
